When Should You Change Your Tyres?
- Low tread depth: once the tread wears down to the tread wear indicator bars in the grooves, the tyre must be replaced. Grip in the rain drops well before that point.
- Cuts, bulges or cracks: damage to the sidewall weakens the tyre and can lead to a blowout.
- Repeated punctures: a tyre that keeps losing air or has been repaired several times is due for replacement.
- Uneven wear: one edge worn far more than the other usually means the tyre is finished — and that your wheel alignment needs checking.
- Age: rubber hardens over time, so old tyres should be inspected even if the tread looks fine.
How We Change Your Tyres
- Inspection: we check your current tyres and confirm the correct size, load index and speed rating for your car.
- Removal: the wheel is taken off and the old tyre is removed from the rim on a tyre changing machine.
- Fitting: the new tyre is mounted on the rim and seated properly.
- Balancing: the wheel is balanced so it runs without vibration.
- Refitting and pressure: the wheel is refitted and inflated to the recommended pressure, with air or nitrogen.
